Pomacanchi, inserted in a cluster of several other lakes, is a little-known jewel, located in the mountains of the South Valley of Cusco.
While walking and mountain biking, cross punas and eucalyptus forests while watching endemic birds in the midst of epic mountains. Kayak across a lake and observe along the way local fishermen and people working their fields on the shores of these waters.
Camp in the Andes under a million stars and, finally, paddle down the Willkamayu River.
This itinerary includes a bit of everything for outdoor adventure lovers and those who find a unique satisfaction in exploring the remote.
Start by visiting the small village of Mosoc Llaqta. Walk through its small square and picturesque streets, along an ancient water channel until you reach Pampamarca Lake. Among impressive mountains, continue along a trail that borders this unique lake until you get to the lunch spot where an outdoor picnic will be waiting for you.
In the afternoon, embark on mountain bikes to ride through the charming community of Acopia until you reach Pomacanchi, the largest and most beautiful lake in this province.
Enjoy the tranquility of watching the sunset on the shores of the lake with a fire under a starry sky. Spend the night enjoying the peace of being sheltered in the far reaches of the Andes.
There is no better feeling than waking up in a beautiful and peaceful place with a cup of hot coffee in your hands.
Feeling the warmth of the sun, while crossing the lake from shore to shore in sea expedition kayaks. From its waters, watch local fishermen and learn about endemic fish species such as huitas, ccarachis, ch’iñis, and carps.
Once on the other shore, enjoy your last adventure: rafting the Willcamayu River. Fuel yourself with adrenaline and feel the force of the moving white waters while paddling fun class II and III rapids.
