Not often explored by travelers visiting Peru, this trek takes us to the heart of high Andean native communities and gives us the unique opportunity to learn more about its inhabitants’ lifestyle and millenary traditions.
You will cross different valleys for three days, with spectacular views of snow-capped peaks, glaciers and lakes, while traveling along ancient Inca trails.
We start in the neighborhood of Huaran, located in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, ascending an ancient Inca trail and crossing a lush valley and crop fields until we reach the community of Cancha Cancha.
This is a small and magical community. Their houses are built entirely of stone, with small farmyards full of llamas and alpacas, the predominant camelid species of the Andes.
Wake up amidst the purity of the Andes, say goodbye to Cancha Cancha, and ascend the mountainside to the pass of Pachacutec.
The summit awaits you with a striking view of the snow-capped peaks of Pitusiray, Sahuasiray, Colquecruz, Chicón, and Helancoma, a gift for the soul.
Descending between the altiplano lakes of Condereancocha and Hatuncocha, you will arrive at the home of Mauro Quispe, a native inhabitant of the Quiswarani community and friend of Terra Explorer for many years, who will give you a warm welcome.
Today the doors of Mauro’s house will open for you, allowing you to meet his family. In addition to working the land and cattle for their subsistence, they are skilled weavers.
After a pleasant morning, continue to the Lares Valley, the end of our journey along with one of the most rewarding routes in our region.
