Continuous descents and ascents along the slopes of one of the deepest canyons in the world will take you to the recently discovered Choquequirao Citadel, considered one of the last Inca refuges, whose structural and architectural quality is very similar to that of Machu Picchu.
Hike from extraordinary snow-capped mountains to tropical forests in a route considered one of the most demanding and rewarding of the Peruvian Andes.
A 4-hour drive route connects the city of Cusco with the village of Cachora. We follow the road with a view of the snow-capped Padreyoc until we reach Capuliyoc, the starting point of this trek and where lunch will be served. Here, the Apurimac Valley will welcome you with the first view of the Inca citadel of Choquequirao.
Descend a steep trail to the final point of the day’s trek and our campsite: Chiquisqa.

Continue descending the slopes of the Apurimac Canyon, one of the deepest in the world, until you reach Rosalina Beach.
Visit the village of Santa Rosa, where you can taste a local sugar cane extract, known locally as “Cambrauy”.
Cross a bridge over the waters of the Apurimac River and ascend to the hamlet of Maranpata.

Today you will arrive at Choquequirao. Visit this incredible archaeological complex which covers 1,810 hectares (4,470 acres); yet, only 30% has been recovered.
Learn more about this important cultural, religious, and agricultural center located in the foothills of the Salkantay Mountain Range and surrounded by the sacred mountains of Yanama, Ampay, Chokecarpu, Pumasiyo, and Panta.
Return to your campsite at Maranpata.

After the sun rises over the ruins at dawn, we return to Chiquisca, hiking across Santa Rosa until reaching Rosalinda Beach, where we cross the Apurimac River to ascend to the final campsite in Chiquisca.

This morning you will ascend to the viewpoint of Capuliyoc and say goodbye to Choquequirao, taking with you, like a postcard, the memory of this adventure in the great Inca citadel.
Continue to Cachora, the end of the trek, while appreciating the magnificent views of the Apurimac Canyon and the snow-capped Padreyoc.
