Surrounded by snow-capped mountains, Maras is home to two wonders of the Inca empire: the circular terraces of Moray, an ancient center of agricultural experimentation, and the famous salt mines of Pichingoto, an impressive conglomerate of over three thousand wells where salt has been stored from the times of the Inca Empire to the present day.
At Terra Explorer, we have designed three routes that adjust to different levels of difficulty that, in equal measure, allow you to enjoy the beauty and the enigmas of this enchanting place.
We will surprise you with an exquisite, luxury picnic in the open air on all three routes.
From the village of Cruzpata, you will ride along a short and easy path to the town of Maras, crossing vast crop fields with a spectacular view of the snow-capped peaks of Verónica and Chicón.
Here you will leave the bikes to continue by car to the circular terraces of Moray and the salt mines of Pichingoto.
Duration: 1.5 hours biking
Start in the village of Cruzpata and cycle along a dirt road through colorful crop fields to the circular ruins of Moray.
After a good bike ride, continue by car to the salt mines of Pichingoto.
