Why we love this experience?

  • It’s a trip customized for kids and adults to enjoy quality family time while exploring fascinating places in Cusco with a high component of outdoor experiences, including luxury camping in the heart of a sacred mountain in the Andes.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Welcome to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Cusco.

Your journey begins in Cusco, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire and cultural heritage of humanity.  At the airport, a Terra Explorer guide will welcome and accompany you to your hotel in the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

On the way you will discover the Andes, the longest mountain range on the planet, inhabited by legendary indigenous communities and areas untouched by modernity. In the following days, this place will allow you to connect with different ways of seeing the world.

    Meals included: Snacks.

Accommodation: Hotel or private house in the Sacred Valley.

  • Day 2: Sailing in Huaypo lake and visit Maras Salt mines.

Crossing the open fields of the Sacred Valley of the Incas brings us to Huaypo, a beautiful and solitary lagoon perched high in the Andes.

Explore Huaypo by sailing on sailboatss, and learn how this lake is linked to the surrounding communities and crop fields, and observe the endemic birds that inhabit it as you glide amidst the reflection of the surrounding mountains and snow-capped peaks.

On the shores of Huaypo, enjoy a delicious luxury picnic in the outdoors.

Continue by car to the famous salt mines of Pichingoto, an impressive conglomerate of over three thousand wells where salt has been stored from the times of the Inca Empire to the present day.

    Duration sailing: 1.5 hours.

    Meals included: Breakfast and lunch.

Accommodation: Hotel or private house in the Sacred Valley.

  • Day 3: Mountain bike ride and visit Moray archeological site.

Explore one of the most beautiful areas of the Sacred Valley on Specialized bikes, 29” rim, disc brakes, and double suspension. From the village of Cruzpata, you will ride along a short and easy path to the town of Maras, crossing vast crop fields with a spectacular view of the snow-capped peaks of Verónica and Chicón.

Here you will leave the bikes to continue by car to the circular terraces of Moray, an enigmatic Inca agricultural laboratory.

On the way we will surprise you with a luxury picnic in the outdoors, under the deep blue sky of this beautiful spot in the Andes.

    Duration biking: 1.5 hours.

    Meals included: Breakfast and lunch.

Accommodation: Hotel or private house in the Sacred Valley.

  • Day 4: Pottery workshop at Seminario, visit Ollantaytambo and train to Machu Picchu town.

Visit the gallery and workshop of Pablo Seminario, for whom pre-Columbian ceramics have always been the primary source of his inspiration and constant research. During a workshop, led by an instructor personally trained by Pablo Seminario, learn about tools and materials. Get in direct contact with clay and put pre-Columbian techniques into practice, thus connecting your world with Peru’s millenary past.

Walk around the winding cobblestone streets of Ollantaytambo, amidst old stone houses and canals in which water has been flowing for centuries. Immerse yourself in a town that seems to be frozen in time, reflecting the extraordinary urban planning of the Incan times.

Explore its impressive fortress, built right next to the village on the slopes of a beautiful mountain. This site served as a religious, agricultural, and military center during the Inca period.

After lunch in a renowned restaurant in town, board a luxury train for an unforgettable journey through awe-inspiring landscapes to Machu Picchu town.

After lunch in the city, through a workshop, discover the world of chocolate and learn how we eat and drink it in Peru. Native to the Americas, cacao grows in the high jungle of Peru, where extraordinary varieties are produced, making us one of the best chocolate producers in the world.

To ensure the well-being and safety of our travelers and staff throughout our operational chain, Terra Explorer will comply with the health and safety measures and protocols established by the Peruvian Association of Adventure Tourism and Ecotourism (APTAE), and implement the Covid-19 health and safety guidelines for adventure tourism developed by the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA).

Our experiences are designed considering the least possible exposure, where the final destinations are usually remote places. By their very nature, our adventure activities are considered to be low risk, mainly because they are performed outdoors where ventilation is constant and making it easy to achieve social distancing.

During these times we are working together with a small staff of honorable people who have been part of the Terra Explorer family for many years. They and their families are aligned with the established health and safety measures. Employing these staff members also seeks to reactivate the local economy.

We guarantee a safe, soul-fulfilling trip to all our travelers for whom we make these adventures possible.

    Our promise to you

Terra Explorer will strictly comply with the safety, cleaning, and hygiene protocols during our internal processes, third parties, and throughout your trip. This involves:

    • All staff involved in Terra Explorer operations are fully vaccinated and the guides are tested for Covid-19 one day prior to meeting clients.
    • Rigorous and constant disinfection of equipment, food and beverages, surfaces shared by travelers, places of activities, accommodation, and transportation.
    • Providing our clients with disinfection stations and resources for personal hygiene at all times of the trip.
    • Personnel trained to comply with the new measures: Use of protective equipment during work, good hygiene practice, social distancing, proper use of hygiene equipment for surfaces and clothing, self-assessment of health and how to respond to the possible event that oneself or someone close to them shows symptoms related to COVID-19.
    • Constant health monitoring of all personnel involved with Terra Explorer.
    • Guides trained to comply with the new security protocols, deliver the appropriate information to the traveler, monitor our travelers‘ health, and follow the established protocols in case a traveler shows symptoms or gets infected with COVID-19.
    • Established protocols and contingency plans if a traveler or staff shows symptoms or gets infected with COVID-19, including medical assistance if required.
    • Keeping you informed before and during your trip, with updates and official news of each visited destination.

    Your promise to us

Follow the instructions related to health and safety given by the Terra Explorer team and your guide, before and during your trip.

    • Good hygiene practice.
    • Compliance with the guidelines provided by local authorities in Peru, such as social distancing, use of masks where necessary, and hand washing.

    Stay home if:

    • Someone close to you or yourself shows symptoms related to COVID-19.
    • You have been exposed to or have tested positive for COVID-19.
    • You have been diagnosed with a severe medical condition that makes you vulnerable.
