Chuquiqawana One Day
Spend a day whitewater rafting down the beautiful Urubamba River.
The Urubamba River, just an hour’s drive from Cusco, flows through the Sacred Valley of the Incas and offers a variety of rafting experiences. The first section of the river, known as “Chuquiqawana”, is perfect for those wanting more white water action; it has both Class III and Class IV rapids, depending on the seasonal water level. The next section, “ Ollantaytambo”, is of moderate difficulty, while “Huaran” is ideal for families with younger children who wish to share the excitement of river rafting. Whatever level of challenge you desire, the Urubamba provides an unforgettable whitewater adventure.
One Day Itinerary Ollanta Section
We pick you in the morning and drive to the area of Pachar on the Vilcanota River in the Sacred Valley. This is the put-in point for our rafting trip. We unload the boats and distribute the personal gear. After our guides give us a technical briefing in safety procedures on the water we’re ready to start. This section of the river contains Class-III rapids and we will be paddling for about 2 hours.
During the trip, we will enjoy a snack aboard the rafts and continue paddling until arriving at the village of Cachicata. At take-out there are facilities available to take a shower and change clothes as well as the option of eating a delicious lunch in one of the numerous outdoor restaurants and beer gardens in the Sacred Valley.
