Itinerary
DAY 01   
Our private transportation will pick us up early, at 6 am, from the hotel with the destination of Puerta del Colca (Ruta de la Pulpera), located at 4000 meters. From this point we will begin to appreciate the Valley. On the way we will visit the cave paintings at Mollepunko and then continue on to the impressive castles at Callalli; here we will begin our trip down the river. Our guides will prepare all of the equipment, and then give a short explanation on river techniques and security. Here we will begin rowing the Colca River for about an hour and a half, passing through class II and III rapids. We will pass through the Majes Dam, located near the town of Tuti; later we arrive at the town of Canocota where we will have a snack. We will then continue on to the town of Yanque where we will spend the night in a hotel. In the evening we will enjoy a delicious dinner.
DAY 02  
After breakfast in the hotel we will leave from the Cruz del Condor, a natural look out point from which one is able to appreciate the canyon’s depth at more than 1200 meters as well as the majestic flight of the condors. We will also visit Tapay’s Look Out. We will then continue on to the town of Cabanaconde where we will eat an early lunch in preparation of our descent into the canyon with the Oasis as our destination. We will arrive here around 5 pm. Our guides will take care of setting up camp, lighting the fire, and preparing us an exquisite dinner. You all will be in charge of relaxing and enjoying the beautiful scenery around us.
DAY 03
After a country breakfast we will enjoy the relaxing waters of the Oasis’ hot springs; then we will begin our ascent up to the town of Cabanaconde where our transportation will be waiting. Here we will eat lunch and then continue on to Chivay; during the trip we will appreciate the different look outs and valley’s characteristic churches. We will return to Arequipa via a different route, passing through the Patapampa Volcanoes look out point. |
