The Colca Valley, in southern Peru, is one of the most beautiful places in the Andes. On the way from Arequipa to Chivay (departure point for visiting the valley) we will pass through the Reserva Nacional de Pampas Callahuas and Tocra, where we will see herds of vicuñas, llamas and alpacas; we will also see the Callalli Castle and ancient cave paintings which are located in the Mollepunko Caves. Once we arrive in Chivay we will enjoy the hot springs and appreciate the fabulous Pre-Incan terraces that cover the canyon walls. We will also pass through the towns that make up the valley, visiting their ancient churches, and observing the inhabitants whom retain their traditional dress and customs. We will return to Arequipa via a different route, passing through the Patapampa Volcano look out point.
