AMANTANÍ AND TAQUILE ISLANDS (TOURISM OF PARTICIPATION)

This tri will give you the opportunity to know the life style in Titicaca Lake and share it with the Amantaní inhabitants because in these islands the re in so hotels and restaurants. Is for this that Uros Island owns one of the most singular life style in the planet, so the inhabitants of Uros built themselves the island with Totora in the top of the island’s surface, they built artificially these floating islands. The second day we will departure from Amantaní to Taquile Island, the biggest island in Titicaca Lake, witch native people keep intact their traditions and costumes of the Pre-Inca period and they are dedicated to textile industry.
DAY 1 UROS - AMANTANÍ
Our transportation will pick us up at 07:30 a.m. and it will take us to the shores of Titicaca Lake where we will board in an unforgettable excursion by boat that will take us first to Uro’s floating islands. Here the housing and the rafts that are used to sail Titicaca Lake, they are built by Totora, the same material that is used to build the islands. We might be able to find some very beautiful artesian handwork, all made by hand and it will attract our attention by its beauty and quality. And then we will continue our trip to Amantaní., inhabited by Quechua speaker people, who are still living according their ancient traditions and whose main occupation consists in the ceramic and the tailoring of soft fabrics. At night we will have a little welcome celebration by the native people of the island and they will be the ones who accommodate us in their homes.
DAY 2 AMANTANÍ - TAQUILE- - UROS
After having breakfast, we will have some free time to walk over the island. Then we will navigate by motor boat over Titicaca Lake to visit Taquile Island. The inhabitants have developed through generations one of the best technique to make fabric by hand in the entire world. They are also dedicated to the agriculture and fishing. When we arrive we will climb a huge stone staircase that will take us to Taquile Town. We will have lunch in a little inn and we will take a walk around its hills and archeological places. In the afternoon we will arrive to Puno and our transportation will take us back to the hotel.
